September 27, 2002

Mashhor DOF Subsea recently organised a double celebration on its achievements of working 500,000 man-hours without Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and on being awarded the ISO9001:2000 Quality Management System certification.

A signing ceremony was held at the Malai Mashhor headquarters in Seria, Kuala Belait, yesterday morning, to mark the posting of two local trainee engineers to United Kingdom for a six-month training course, sponsored by Mashhor Joint Venture International Private Company (MJVI).

The event was attended by Mr Steven Bullock from the PGS Productions Services, Awg Hj Zainal bin Hj Merusin, the Chief Supervisor of Labour, Pg Hj Mohd Yassin bin Pg Anak Hj Hasyim, the Head Contract & Commercial Support of Brunei Shell Petroleum, Awg Sabli bin Mahat from the Petroleum Unit and the directors of the Mashhor Group of Companies.

MJIV General Manager, Awg Hj Osman bin Hj Omar in his welcoming speech, said that since the start of its operation in 1997, MJVI has employed mostly locals to work in the company in line with the objective to the Government of His Majesty. About 55 per cent of those employed in the MJVI management, administration, engineering and other areas are local, he added.

The trainee engineers, Awg Mohd Yusof bin Abdullah and Awg Sharulrizam bin Mohd Said will undergo six months of training at Production Support Services (PGS) to build and increase capabilities and technical knowledge in oil and gas.

"Besides the on-job training, they will also undergo personal development training. They will be based in Shell Haven, London to observe the daily operation and will also have a chance to visit and work in the North Sea, which is indeed a very rare chance. We hope the experience, skills and technical knowledge they obtain will be shared with the other employees of our company," said Awg Hj Osman.
The intensive training will be conducted in conjunction with the "Competency Assessment Programme", which has been implemented by MJVI since early 2001.

MJVI is a joint venture between PGS Production Services and Mashhor General Contractor Company. Since its formation in 1995, MJVI has established an enviable reputation as a leader in the development of integrated performance driven contracts and project management for the oil and gas, petrochemical and power industries.

Its current long term contract with Brunei Shell Petroleum ((BSP) established MJVI as the largest operations and maintenance contractor in Southeast Asia, reflecting the company's commitment to the region.

The scope of services provided for BSP includes design, procurement, onshore fabrication and offshore installation for topside facilities, maintenance inspection, vessel supply and management.
